Motoring journal 2017
The brief:
In the earliest days of the motor car, until 1915, the Royal Automobile Club published an annual Motoring Journal. For 2015 the world-famous Club wanted to relaunch its Motoring Journal as a hardback book covering all the Club’s motoring activities during the year and highlighting all the cars displayed in the rotunda of its Pall Mall clubhouse.
Our challenge:
INP Media needed to collate the massive amount of information emanating from the RAC’s many in-house events, motoring challenges such as the 1,000 Mile Trial and the London to Brighton Run, and to record the classic cars displayed in the Club’s rotunda each week of the year. This then had to be brought together to create a high-quality hardback publication that reflected the Club’s quality standards.
Our solution:
We worked with writers and the RAC’s photographers to ensure all the assets were in place. We then created an elegant and timeless design for the book, adhering to the Club’s recently-adopted new CI guidelines. Finally our designer and editor brought the project to fruition, with finished copies delivered to the RAC just three weeks after the final event of the year, the London to Brighton veteran car run, and in time for members to collect their copies before Christmas. Since that first 2015 edition, this has become an annual publication.
