Ferrari
Ferrari at the Design Museum

The brief:

The world-famous Design Museum in London launched a major exhibition in November 2017 called ‘Ferrari: Under the Skin’ to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the marque. To support the exhibition a stunning hardback book was commissioned.

Our challenge:

To write, edit and commission seven essays that would become the content for the book. Creating a book to tell the inside story of the design and engineering of such a world famous marque had three major challenges. Firstly, what to include? With such a fantastic history there was a limitless amount of material to consider, and choosing the right content was vital. Secondly we needed expert automotive writers to author our stories and third due to the scale of the project we would have to collaborate with a number of agencies working on the project.

Our solution:

Creating a shortlist of key topics and design cues we worked closely in collaboration with the curator of the exhibition Andrew Nahum and publishers Phaidon to finesse the final contents.

INP Media has its own well established automotive author in Director Martin Derrick and this gave us a distinct advantage when it came to both writing and commissioning. He wrote two of the seven essays himself, recruited high calibre writers to write the others and with Nahum edited the whole publication.
