Cinema Film
The brief:
Mercedes-Benz World wanted to create a film that could be used in their cinema to showcase to visitors just what an incredible history Mercedes-Benz has on and off the racetrack, and how the brand has evolved over the last 125 years to become one of the most successful automotive manufacturers and racing teams in the world.
Our challenge:
When you are producing a film that needs to span a brands 125 years of success there are many challenges. Choosing what to leave in and what to leave out is no easy task when there are so many automotive successes and world firsts. Then there is the challenge of sourcing content that dates back over 100 years and trying to manipulate this content so it can stand up to today’s 4K quality when shown on a large cinema screen.
Our solution:
With access to the Mercedes-Benz archives our in-house editors were able to spend many hours researching the very best archive material available.
This gave us the best possible start for building our Origins script and helped our creative team to develop the films storyline from the very beginning of the brand to the present day.
We employed the very latest techniques for animating pictures to bring the archive images in particular to life. We also spent time designing a graphical style on screen that would allow older film to be used smaller on the screen, so the poorer resolution didn’t impact severely on the overall production allowing the older content a new lease of life on the large cinema screen.
