New Holland
Methane Tractor Concept 360°

The brief:

New Holland required a 360° VR film that could showcase their latest concept methane powered tractor. The tractor was to be launched at the Farm Progress Show in Chicago and the film needed to be available as an app and to play on screens at the show.

Our challenge:

The 360° film had to feature three different perspectives on the tractor. Two exterior shots front and rear and one view from inside the new high tech cab that had been created for the concept. The interior cab shot was a big challenge due to the limited space and because the tractor would be driving out in the field, vibration and stabilisation were a big issue for the exterior shots. The 360° film also had to work as an interactive stand alone film on screens at an event, plus on mobile devices via app download and with the latest Samsung VR headsets. The apps had to also be both Android and IOS compatible.

Our solution:

By manufacturing our own camera clamp we were able to create a very stable camera platform for the 360° rig. We also use bespoke stitching masks for all of our 360° work as an off the shelf algorithm can only do so much. This allowed us to get the best possible results from a very unsteady vehicle.

Using our in-house app developers and VR technicians we were able to create multiple formats for the 360 film, allowing it to be used on multiple sites and applications. Including VR headsets and stand alone gesture controlled screens.
